Immunization with Chemically Modified Lymphoma Cells1

چکیده
Although 6C3HED ascites lymphosarcoma grows lethally in C3H mice at low tumor cell inoculum, potent immune responses to this tumor have been elicited. It was selected as a model for studying the effectiveness of a number of chemical modifications of the tumor in eliciting immune responses of sufficient potency to protect the animal against a challenging lethal dose of the tumor cells. 6C3HED cells were modified by reactions with: (a) diazotized p-aminobenzoic acid, (b) fluorodinitrobenzene, (c) iodoacetamide, (d) iodoacetate, (e) yV-ethylmaleimide, and (/) p-hydroxymercuribenzoate. Cells modified with the strong antigenic determinants a and b failed to protect against IO6 6C3HED cells; c, d, and e protected

Chemically-Modified Activated Carbon with L-Arginine for Selective Solid Phase Extraction and Preconcentration of Metal Ions
In this study, a new sorbent of chemically-modified activated carbon with L-arginine (AC-Arg) has been produced as solid-phase extraction, to trace Zn(II) and Cd(II) ions in real samples, including soil and water samples, by Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (FAAS). Once the surface coverage value is determined, the surface modification has been investigated and assessed, while having em...

Performance of Chemically Modified TiO2-poly (vinylidene fluoride) DCMD for Nutrient Isolation and Its Antifouling Properties
The surface properties of TiO2-PVDF nanocomposite membranes were investigated by incorporating different chemically modified TiO2 nanoparticles into the poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) matrix. The nanocomposite membranes were prepared via dual coagulation bath diffusion and the induced phase inversion method. The membrane surface morphologies were investigated by using SEM and AFM and related...
متن کاملEnhanced response to chemoimmunotherapy and immunoprophylaxis with the use of tumor-associated antigens with a lipophilic agent.
Treating iodoacetamide (IAD)-modified lymphoma cells with the lipophilic agent dimethyldioctadecylammonium bromide (DDA) increased their immunogenicity as evidenced by the increased capacity of syngeneic, vaccinated hosts to reject subsequent implants of the same lymphoma. Under conditions of suboptimal immunization to facilitate comparison, there were 61% survivors among mice challenged with t...
متن کاملActivated antigen-presenting cells select and present chemically modified peptides recognized by unique CD4 T cells.
CD4 T cells recognized posttranslationally modified peptides of the protein hen egg-white lysozyme (HEL), consisting of nitration of tyrosines and modifications of tryptophans in the T cell contact residues of the peptides. T cells were directed against modifications of a chemically dominant HEL peptide as well as a minor HEL peptide, bound to the class II histocompatibility molecule I-A(k). Th...
